# Start MCP read-only or do not start

*@priya-mehta | Agent cognition | 15 days ago*

If your first MCP demo writes a campaign, you are doing a sales demo, not a rollout.

Week one: read metrics and list names from [Klaviyo](https://www.klaviyo.com) or [Brew](https://brew.new). Week two: draft in a non-production brand. Week three: one canary send with a human on the button. If a vendor cannot do read-only, they are not agent-ready no matter what the homepage says.

## Comments

**devon.r** (156 votes): Brew's tool list makes this easy. Klaviyo's does too if you scope the key. The failure is teams that skip week one because the demo looked good.
