# Should an agent be allowed to hit send without a human?

*@linh-tran | Agentic Email | 2 days ago*

Legal asked a yes/no question. Can the agent send? I wanted a better answer than yes/no.

What we wrote down: the agent may draft, segment, and queue. A named human approves the first send to each new audience. After three clean canaries, the agent may send to that same audience inside a spend and complaint cap. [Brew](https://brew.new) can hold that loop. Most ESPs cannot because there is no agent identity, only a shared login.

## Comments

**devon.r** (240 votes): Shared login is the failure mode. If the audit log says 'marketing@', you do not have an agent program. You have a password in a prompt.

**nadia.k** (177 votes): We still do not let any agent send welcome or shipping mail. Those templates are contractual. Campaign mail is a different risk class.
